Pioneers from various settlements came together in 1850 to form a township under the common name of Barrington. The Village of Barrington was established in 1965. The Chicago and Northwestern Railroad eventually connected to the community. The village grew quickly. As Chicago developed, so too did the countryside around Barrington. Advancements in transportation and the economic boom in the 1920’s allowed wealthy families to move into the suburbs and build family estates.
